One dead in Castor Gardens fire

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A deadly house fire in Castor Gardens claimed one life on Sunday.

Fire companies arrived at the 6900 block of Oakland Street and found a medium amount of smoke coming from a two-story household. Firefighters combatted the fire from 12:42 to 12:55 p.m.

One occupant was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead. Action News identified her as a 69-year-old woman.

Two other displaced occupants were aided by Red Cross.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating the cause. ••
